I am posting just a few of the many emails we get from clients relating to their purchase from my line of Gordon's. So here is a small sample of what our email inbox looks like regularly....
Hi Niel,
I just got back from my hunting cabin, been there since tuesday when tux got here. He is great pup and his condition is superb. I took him out every day for one hour on the tundra. His first time i thought he was a labrador retriever , he brought me back everything he could find to put in his mouth , from twigs , rocks, bog , grass to goose down. I took him with my old setter next time and he caught his first scent of parmigan. He went crazy, he sounded like a snorting blackbear as he trailed the running birds. He is smart , smart , smart, very determined and i can see he has all the qualities i admire in a dog. I know he is gonna be a handful to master he has that stubborness that all the top dogs i have ever seen project. I was thinking of sending him to a professional trainer in the spring for three or four months , do you think that is a good idea and if so is there any you would reccommend???? Thanks again for your efforts in getting this pup to me I can't say how much i appreciate all you have done. I will e mail you some pics when I get a chance. JOHN
I wanted to follow up with you regarding my male pup from your Kennel, Black Lake Mojo. He has a very nice personality as with most Gordon Setters but seems very balanced, especially for a 5 month old pup. He really gets out there and hunts and is pointing well for his age. I am running him for very short stints in the field and have already shot quail over him with a little .410 side by side I have. He has a natural point but figured the wing on a pole routine out way too quickly - he is very smart.
Mojo is a good soild bird dog with a balanced mix of desire, intensity, pointing instinct and willingness to hunt with the gunner. Great job.

Hi Daniel,
Thought since I had a couple of minutes I would send you a couple of pictures and tell you how Boomer is doing. I hope you and your family and dogs are doing well. The pictures were taken just this morning, he still will chase the wing, but points it a lot longer without breaking now. I have worked him with live birds to retrieve and he will definitely find them with his nose, pick them up and carry them, but we still have to work on him bringing them to me consistently. I think the pup is doing a lot better than the trainer at this time. If you have any suggestions to get him to come to me with a bird I would welcome them. I need to spend more time then I do, I think. He is living in the house with us and the other dogs and cats and has fit into the family great.
Two days ago I let him outside in the late afternoon and he acted like he wanted to point near a garage we have just west of the house. He then slowly and cautiously moved to an old barn foundation just south of there. I went slowly and quietly toward where he had gone and by this time he had gone into the weeds. When I stepped up to the edge of the foundation I saw him, but didn't realize he was actually pointing. I said his name and a covy of wild quail flushed from all around him. He seemed to know what he was doing and didn't spook the birds.
Looking foreward to bird season in a few weeks and will work him as much as possible when I can.
Have a good day.
Lloyd
Daniel,
I am writing to let you know how much we are enjoying Truxtun. When we had to have my my first Gordon Setter put down at 17 years I didn't think I would be able to find another like him. As time went by I found I really missed him and began my search on the net. I consider it a blessing to have ran across your site. I was so excited and told my husband....since my birthday was coming up he and my children decided to buy me one of your Gordon Setters. What a great present! He is so intelligent, easily trained and very loving and loyal. We can tell he is of good quality and from a good bloodline. He is also best pals with my granddaughter's Standard Poodle, Lacie. Thank you again. I am including a picture of Truxtun & Lacie.
God Bless

Both pups I received from Black Lake Kennels have been absolutely wonderful. They have excellent dispositions, are very intelligent, and have great hunting instincts. They are also very healthy and have been great additions to our family. I am very satisfied and I highly recommend this kennel.

I bought a puppy from Daniel Neal in July 2007. She is very healthy and has great bird-sense. She has a lot of spunk, but can be so sweet. She is a very intelligent dog and shows tremendous potential. I would recommend Black Lake Kennel to anyone looking to own a great bird dog.

Daniel,
Kili and Goombah have both been great dogs for us. They are both very friendly and want to meet everyone they see. They both have a very soft bite when taking treats from hand and we have not had one problem with them biting humans while playing. They are very affectionate and have such great personalities. They get along great with other dogs and have great hunting instincts and we have not even trained them for hunting. We could not be more pleased with these dogs, no medical problems, they are both very athletic and agile. I was with my dad when he bought his most recent dog, and the transaction for him ended once the check passed hands. This was not the case with Daniel Neal and his Black Lake Gordon Setters kennel; we have spoken with him numerous times about the dogs since we got them. Daniel has been a very valuable resource for my wife and I as we are first time dog owners. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a Gordon.

Hi Daniel, I'm sending you a few pictures of Inka. We are so happy with her,she is very smart, learns very fast and is so sweet and friendly. Thank you again! Sabine
Hi Daniel,
Just a quick follow up to my previous note about our new pup Riley. She is wonderful !! Very sweet, smart and energetic!
She has learned come, is pointing the wing regularly and is housebroken enough to “ask” when she has to go outside. We are working to gradually introduce her to the water and he has gone swimming once but really enjoys playing and digging in the sand and mud! Have sent in all the paper work and ordered the vitamins and she goes to our vet next week for her next shots.
Our whole family has fallen in love with her and we thank you for making this possible !!
We will stay in touch.
